THE ART OF LAYERING SKINCARE

THE ART OF LAYERING SKINCARE

Our skin is the body’s largest organ. Its broad range of skin viscosities and textures mean varying requirements; fundamentally one moisturizer won’t fulfil all of your skin’s needs.

Layering skincare products allows you to spot treat where necessary while offering essential Vitamins and hydration to the entire skin. Spring time, with great weather changes is the optimal time to master this up and coming trend.

STEP 1: The golden rule of layering is to go from the lightest to the heaviest product. Start from a product that has a high concentration of one or two superstar ingredients, like an essence with Vitamins and Hyaluronic Acid.
STEP 2: After applying an essence use a serum so all the active ingredients are absorbed into the skin before applying richer products. Apply couple of drops of your favorite serum on your hands and press gently into the face and neck to help release the potent ingredients into the skin more effectively.
STEP 3: In small doses, oil can make your skin look noticeably more radiant. Facial oil can be applied before or even after moisturizer on drier areas or areas which need extra protection from the changing weather. Cheeks and forehead usually crave oil especially during colder months. Facial oil is not optimal just for dry skin. Oily skin can benefit from an oil too, since it balances the skin's need to produce its own oil.
STEP 4: During the daytime use a moisturizer and an SPF to protect the skin.Your night-time routine should also include a cream to help the skin recover overnight from the day. Applying moisturizer can act as a mini massage. Massaging the cream into your skin gets your lymphatic system circulate better and you look refreshed instantly.
STEP 5: Eye gels and creams help fragile skin around your eyes stay more supple and soft than just your regular moisturizer. After moisturizer apply eye cream gently around the eyes with your ring finger - morning and night. Skin around the eyes is thinner than in other parts of your body so the area is more likely to dry out. Dry skin is also thinner than hydrated one. With eye cream you actually prevent also dark circles, which are more visible when the skin is thin.
STEP 6: Some extra hydration and refreshment is always welcome during long office hours. You can use a facial mist during the day even on top of your make-up to keep your make-up refreshed and skin hydrated. Try a facial mist right after cleansing before serum to effectively prepare skin for moisture absorption.
