NORDIC BEAUTY WISDOM: MEET NORDIC BAKERY & DRIVEN WOMAN FOUNDER MIISA MINK

Co-owner of Nordic Bakery and  founder of Driven Woman network, Miisa Mink lives with her family just outside of London. For her life is about doing what she loves – and good things have followed.

"For me life is a discovery of what I'm capable of. In the past I've built a super successful design and branding agency, which I'm very proud of. I lived in Finland at that time but I wanted to return to London because this is my spiritual home. Here I can be whoever I want to be because there are no social expectations. I co-own Nordic Bakery, which turns 10 years this year. To celebrate, we've made a book with photographer Milla Koivisto in order to capture our core values: honesty, authenticity, beauty, aesthetics and peace of mind. I share a lot of the beliefs and there is also a certain amount of 'sisu' in me. For me it means resilience beyond the acceptance of obstacles and kicking ass but not in an aggressive way. I've always been good at doing what needs to be done.

My goal was to find out how I can live in a balanced and happy way and spend more time with my family
I founded the Driven Woman network four years ago out of self-discovery. My goal was to find out how I can live in a balanced and happy way and spend more time with my family. We had just moved to our new home and the garden was full of roses but I was too busy to cut them because my to do list was more important. I didn't want to live like that. Now I do things that are important and I can help other people move forward too. We meet once a month in small groups and we always starts by defining success in our own terms. I see the network as my legacy, a way to help women thrive.
I look after my well-being with a combination of things: good food, great sleep, and relaxation. I also run and ride my horse. I do what I can but I I've learned to be gentle with myself – that is the gift of the Driven Woman. Overall I have very positive habits. I start my day with 15 minutes of yoga and then I nourish my body with fresh juice: some ginger, carrot, pineapple, celery, and maybe kale. I also have a basket full of vitamins described by my doctor that I take every day.
I eat super healthy because it makes me feel great. I drink a lot of herbal tea and take three tablespoons of high quality oil every day because it's good for the gut and skin. My only wises are a cup of coffee every day and lots of red wine sometimes. When I eat out I always order chips but otherwise I only eat organic. To quote Oscar Wilde: everything in moderation including moderation.
We have a sauna in the back of the garden and for me it's a holistic experience; a place where I can just relax and breathe
Beauty wise I like to keep things natural. I don't wear makeup unless I have to. I really like Lumene's Kuulas eye serum and twice a week I put on a face mask. We have a sauna in the back of the garden and for me it's a holistic experience; a place where I can just relax and breathe.
When people ask me where to start with their own self-discover my advice is: do what excites you more than anything else. Go towards that even if it's scary. Explore and take just one step at the time. You don't need to know all the steps, just that one step. If you do what you love, and follow your joy then every day is a celebration."
